KIU RANGERS WIN BY THE SKIN OF THEIR TEETH

As the playoffs kicked off today with the Nkumba Lady Marines facing off with KIU Rangers in the women’s Category, we witnessed a beautiful game with a good struggle for a win in the first period having both teams finish with 13 points each. There was a turn of events in the second period though when we had the KIU Rangers making the first basket and taking the lead with 4 points higher, having the score at 20 points for the Nkumba Lady Marines and 24 points for the Rangers. Both teams had 3 fouls.

The third period started with the KIU Rangers making the first basket again, they made a good offensive play for the whole of this period putting them in a lead with 46 points by the end of the period while Nkumba Lady Marines had 34 points. Both teams had 5 fouls by the end of the period. The fans were still in a warm up mood.

A remarkable turn up from the KIU fans was noticed and as the last period started, there was a blazing sound of drums and screams of victory from the KIU fans. This period was more vibrant and interesting, the teams had most of the fans on their feet. Nkumba Lady Marines step up their game and tried to make up for the points to catch up with the KIU Rangers. However, the Rangers still took the game with a win by the skin of their teeth having the final scores at 52 points for Nkumba Lady Marines and 53 points for KIU Rangers.

This was a beautiful start of the playoffs, having our very first UAP Old Mutual Player of the Game, KIU Ranger’s Lines Kanyamunza making history as she walked away with her prize of UGX 100,000 and a camp chair. She made 20 points, 3 Rebs, 12 EFF

We also had awards given to the players and Coaches of the Months of July and August.

The night was crowned with the game of the Worries taking on the KIU Titans, as they came to the court the fans were anxiously waiting for the face off of these two giants. With Worries’ OSCAR Muge making the jump ball first basket, my prediction was that the worries are taking this game home. This was a tough face off and surely it can be wittiness in the scores, the game end at 47 points for the Worries and 39 points for the KIU Titans making my earlier perdition right.
