Power cruise past JKL to take game one

Betway Power were in fine form enroute to their 74-35 win over JKL Dolphins in game one of their quarterfinal series Saturday night.
The five-time champions cruised early on in the first quarter to create day light between themselves and JKL after the first ten minutes.
The score board read 27-08 in favour of Arnold Lando’s charges after the first quarter with guards Amin Mkosa and Syrus Kiviiri doing most of the damage.
JKL struggled to get going offensively while shipping in on the other end of the floor and went into the halftime break down 20 despite holding Power to only 9 points in the second quarter.
Power scored 38 against JKL’s 19 in the second half to take game one of the 3-game series and put one foot in the semifinals.
Kiviiri and Mkosa led Power with 15 points apiece while big man Philip Ameny added 11 points and 9 rebounds to announce his return from suspension.
Ivan Lumanyika and Brian Namake scored 12 and 10 points in JKL’s losing effort.
Kiviiri was named the UAP Player of the game.
The two sides will face off in game two Wednesday next week.

Lady Canons tame A1 Challenge
UCU 57-51 A1 Challenge
UCU Lady Canons took game one against A1 Challenge and are now a game away from a semifinal slot.
The Lady Canons started well and led by 7 points (17-10) after the first quarter.
A1 stepped up their defence in the second quarter and limited UCU to 10 on to of scoring 9 of their own to cut the deficit to 6 points at halftime.
Hamza Nyambogo’s charges put up a challenge in the second half but UCU had enough to hold on for a 57-52 victory.
Rose Akon registered a double-double with 18 points and 19 rebounds while Zainah Lokwameri added 14 points and 3 rebounds for Nick Natuhereza’s charges.
Victoria Ntale and Georgia Adhiambo contributed 11 and 10 points respectively for A1.

JKL too good for UMU
JKL 74-47 UMU

Forward Hope Akello registered 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead JKL Lady Dolphins to victory over UMU Ravens Saturday afternoon.
The defending champions started well and lead 36-27 at halftime before adding another 36 points in the second half to win 72-47 and get the advantage in the series.
Ritah Imanishimwe contributed 15 points and 5 rebounds while Evelyn Nakiyingi and Brenda Nakitende added 10 apiece for JKL.
Sharon Kirabo and Vicky Akello had 15 and 10 points respectively in UMU’s losing effort.
