The Division One Final Series between UPDF Tomahawks and Namuwongo Blazers lived up to the expectations with fine margins until the end.
UPDF got the better of the Blazers in the decisive game to win 71-70 and clinch the title Sunday evening at MTN Arena, Lugogo.
The Army side started on the front foot in the decider and led by 7 points (26-19) after the first quarter.
The lead was cut as the Blazers improved to take the second quarter 20-14 to trail by a single point at half time.
The second half started with the Namuwongo outfit on top and they outscored UPDF 16-10 to lead going into the final frame.
The game went to the wire with UPDF fashioning a comeback that was completed by Peter Senfuka’s two made free throws.
Baker Kyambadde’s troops took the final 10 minutes 21-15 to win the game and the Division One championship.
Felix Mukunzi scored 21 points and picked 10 rebounds for UPDF while Senfuka had 19 points and 5 rebounds.
Vicent Yiiki and Chuol Nyuot posted 20 and 18 points respectively with the latter adding 11 rebounds for the Blazers.
In the Division Two championship, Kampala Rockets recovered from their game two loss to win two on the bounce and clinch the title over Entebbe Archers.
Magic Stormers made light work of Nabisunsa to win 3-0 in the Women’s Division One.
