Uganda U23 3×3 team picks lessons from world cup

Uganda was well represented at this year’s FIBA U23 3X3 World Cup that ended October 6th in Lanzhou China.

The team led by Hamza Nyambogo finished 17th at the event and has picked valuable lessons going forward.

Uganda started the tournament with a 12-19  loss to Romania  before falling 6-19 to Germany.

A close 10-13 loss to Iran and another 17-19 defeat by Mongolia marked the end of road for Team Uganda.

“The girls have picked lessons and are ready to work even harder next time,” Nyambogo noted after the tournament.

It was the second time Uganda was featuring at the event and three of the four players were appearing for the first time.

Only Ritah Imanishimwe had played at the event last year.

The other players who represented Uganda are UCU Lady Canons’ pair of Sarah Ageno and Abey Priscilla as well as Angels Basketball Club’s Melissa Akullu.

Japan defeated defending champion Russia 19-14 to lift the title in a repeat of last year’s final.
