New Executive Committee to work with the National Team Committee

KAMPALA – The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) is pleased to inform the basketball fraternity that going forward the new Executive Committee is going to work with the National Team Committee headed by Hajj Mohamed Santur Ghendi and Grace Kwizera.

As you are all aware, we had the FUBA Elections for the different positions at Executive Committee level that were conducted on February 24, 2019 at the Uganda Olympic Committee Office in Lugogo.

Nasser Sserunjogi and Grace Kwizera contested for the presidency with the former emerging victorious and in the spirit of true sportsmanship both parties are going to continue working together as a team.

Allow me to thank all the media houses from radio and television to print and online publications for the coverage they gave the game of basketball through this campaign.

This gave us a good platform that created so much awareness for the game of basketball especially our new audience. We thank you for being a part of this movement.

The Newly elected FUBA president Nasser Sserunjogi has expressed his sincere gratitude for the olive branch extended by Hajji and Grace, “Today we are here to inform the world, the basketball fraternity, all our partners and stakeholders that basketball is one family and that we are ready to work together as a team. My brother Grace Kwizera and I were both competing for one common cause – to serve the game of basketball, the game we all cherish and love.”

“We are therefore here today to exactly do the same as a team and we pledge to the basketball fraternity and all our stakeholders that we shall continue doing the same for next four years and many more years to come ahead.”

“We shall maintain the National Team Committee headed by the General Manager – Hajj Mohamed Santur Ghedi and Kwizera will continue managing our Junior NBA Program.”

FUBA Honorary president Ambrose Tashobya is easily the happiest man with the flow of events for this ensures that the legacy he left after 12 years at the helm of the game of basketball in Uganda will be maintained.

Ambrose Tashobya says, “I am excited because what I had hoped for is happening, that is for the new administration to purpose to work with all other parties and use all our potentials to serve this game of basketball.”

“This is a good step in the right direction. I want to thank president Nasser for reaching out and Kwizera and Haji Santur for accepting the call.”

“I worked for twelve years to build one federation and with this commitment today we can hope to see a continued united front serving the game. I will continue to work with the new administration whenever am called upon to ensure that our game soars to greater heights. We are now one team let us world.”

Kwizera, who has made a lot of progress with the Junior NBA program, is excited to be on board.

“This has always been about basketball, and doing my part to elevate the game in the country. Continuing to lead the junior NBA while managing the National Team with Mohammed Santur is a natural fit. It is what we have done for the last 6 years and what I am looking forward to continuing to do.”
