IHoops Basketball Academy: The Fun in FUNdamentals

Established in 2014, iHoops basketball academy is a sports management consultancy, focused on the development of the sport of basketball in Uganda. iHoops academy takes pride in successfully skilling the youth in the sport of basketball for children ages 5 to 18 within a fun, active and healthy learning environment. The various activities are solely organised and facilitated by the academy.
The goal of the academy is to allow youths the opportunity to maximize their potential, while promoting the importance of youth basketball as a vehicle to build character, discipline and self-esteem

iHoops was originally founded as a volunteer organization dedicated to growing and promoting youth basketball development  within schools in Uganda. Over the past four years, iHoops academy has positively influenced the lives of hundreds of youths through its grassroots development programs such as conducting holiday basketball camps, facilitating basketball-related outreaches to different schools, conducting weekly Saturday skills development sessions to build character and confidence and collaborating with like-minded partners to help construct basketball courts for sustainability of the game.

iHoops academy focuses on a youth basketball initiative designed to develop fundamental skills, sportsmanship and a love for the game of basketball. The program objectives focus on participation, education, development, progression and character building.

The academy program consists of approximately 3 holiday camps, outreaches in schools/communities through out the year, followed by a tournament in early December. Dates vary for each activity and practice plans focus on the skills appropriate for the age groups and tournament rules supporting the best development opportunities for young participants

The seventh Edition of the Ihoops Basketball camp was concluded in the month of January which saw the camp attract a total of 195 kids in total for the Weekly holiday camp.

Due to constant demands from parents to engage their kids in the game of Basketball, Ihoops has officially re launched their weekend programs which kick off this weekend 6th April 2019 at Silver Springs Hotel Basketball Court.

Two of the current entertaining basketball players in the country, Jimmy Enabu and Ben Komakech have vowed to move a step forward to continue to pass on basketball and life skills to young stars to help them improve on their skill development.

We want these kids to attain basic skills earlier so that we have quality players to replace them says Ben Komakech and Jimmy Enabu who both play for City Oil Basketball Club and the National team and double up as the directors at Ihoops Basketball Academy.

We have noticed that the kids do not gain enough during our holiday camps so we decided to have weekend programs to help the kids improve and equip more baskeball skills at a young age as well as attracting many to the sport says Project Manager Ntale Vicky.

The Weekend program attracts both players from International schools and the local schools in Uganda.
