Ugandan representatives in the Basketball Africa League Qualifiers City Oilers have progressed to the second qualification phase.
Oilers won their first three games at the qualification tournament in Dar el Salam, Tanzania to confirm their place at the next stage.
The Ugandan champions lost 74-63 to Rwandan side Patriots to finish second at the tournament.
The next round of the Basketball Africa League Qualifying Tournament is scheduled for next month and December.
“As a club with the ambitions that we have, we wanted to qualify to the next round.” Oilers head coach Mandy Juruni said after the final game.
Oilers defeated Burundi’s Dynamo, Tanzania’s JKT and Ethiopia’s Hawassa before falling to Patriots on the final day in the round robin tournament.
Oilers will now play at the next qualification stage in a bid to progress to the final twelve to compete in the inaugural Basketball Africa League.
Back home, Oilers will play Warriors in the semifinals of the National Basketball League.
